Moving could be an expensive proposition that must be budgeted for carefully. When you're moving, there are a few expenditures you may encounter with a brand new rental that you might not have considered.

Pay for heating

You need to figure out what your heating and cooling costs will be before you move in and before signing a contract if possible. You can end up with a $600 bill related to heating expenditures if it is not clearly stated who is accountable for it in your lease. You should determine how the apartment is heated and about how much that costs per month typically.

Parking

One thing that many people do not even think about is parking. People assume that part of renting is having a parking spot. This is not the case for most cities with a number of people in it or areas where parking is scarce. You may have 1 parking spot in an apartment parking lot or a driveway if you are at a house, but you may end up having to just pay for parking.

Do you have an excessive amount of stuff?

There is a good chance that you will have to store stuff at some time during the adventure. You might just end up storing stuff for a couple of months while moving or may need to store stuff due to a move to a smaller place or place with a roommate. You are able to certainly try selling or getting rid of all your stuff before you move in order to get rid of it, but a lot of people like their stuff. You are able to get storage at most apartment buildings for an extra fee every month.

Garbage bills

You may be responsible for city or state charges for garbage and recycling if it is not already covered whenever you are renting. Most apartments contain these bills, but a lot of houses will not. Make sure you check your lease to see what you are responsible for, and make sure you pay for the city service if you need to. Sometimes you can make arrangements with other tenants if you are in an apartment complex to get your trash taken together.
