3 Online Banking Security Tips From Robert Jain

By Jason McDonald

With the advent of technology, we have been afforded a number of great luxuries. One of the most noteworthy is online banking, which can be done by simply clicking onto an app on your phone and logging in. The ability to check and manage your accounts from any location is nothing short of remarkable, but there are a few things to know about protecting yourself as well. Here are 3 ways to do so, courtesy of Robert Jain.

First and foremost, use a secure WiFi or network connection for your online banking. When a network asks you for a password before logging in, you can rest assured that it's safe to use. However, if you can simply log on without any trouble, your sensitive information could be at risk. As reputable names in finance like Bob Jain will tell you, online banking safety greatly depends on the type of Internet connection you use.

Let's say that you receive a phone call from someone requesting personal information. Perhaps they will say that they belong to your bank and that they need your PIN in order to access your account for safety reasons. The truth is that no one in any position of power will call you with a request like this, meaning that it should be viewed as a red flag right out of the gate. This is another way to stay safe when doing your online banking.

Another way to do online banking safely is by changing the password on your account. Ideally, you'll want to do this every few months so that it becomes difficult for others to break into said account. While it can be argued that your bank can keep you aware of any strange activity, ultimately, they can only do so much to help you. In order to keep your bank account safe, actions like regular password changes are recommended.

For those that take part in online banking, it's important to understand that security plays a large role in the matter. These are just a few ways that the security in question can be exercised, not only for your financial well-being but in terms of your personal information in general. You do not want these sensitive details to land in the wrong hands. The more careful you are with banking, the less that you'll have to worry about such potential circumstances.
