Agriculture which is the primary source of most of the food eaten in the entire America is mainly done in the rural parts of the country. It is so interesting also to note that about 44% of the military recruits come from the countryside. This is an indication that they are in one way or another associated with farming and that is how they are able to get these disabled veteran farm loans.

Being interested in peaceful environments after accomplishing their services, these farmers tend to prefer rural areas to urban areas. Here, most of them settle on farming. As a show of appreciation for their devotion, the government and the Farming Service Agency came up with a system that will help them in their farming through loans.

The farm loans that are offered by FSA are for different retired military persons. It is understood that a retired military that was never injured while on duty will be more efficient in farming while a disabled one will tend to be slightly less effective depending on the kind of disability they possess.

In ensuring there is the efficient use of the loans offered, FSA has strict regulations that are to be met for one to be legible for these loans. Additionally, the rules are aimed at ensuring that these new farmers meet the standards that are required to match this vital sector of the countrys economy.

Having a three-year farming experience is one of the requirements for one to be legible for these loans. This provision aims at ensuring that the intending farmer is impacted with the basic farming knowledge. It is also vital as it enables one to be aware of the relevant farming methods being used.

Apart from the farming experience, one is required to have a piece of land where they are going to undertake the farming. FSA set up that for those who have 30% to 50% disability have 30 acres of land before being legible for these loans. This enables them to undertake large-scale farming which is more profitable.

This move by FSA and the government has been very helpful to these military having served in the army diligently. It has shown them how much they are appreciated for their services in the military. It has given most of them hope by serving as their source of livelihood especially to those with financial challenges.

Not all citizens are in support of this project. Most of them arguing that the tax payers money which is the source of loan money given to these new farmers is not used. These farmers have little experience that can assure them of profits from their farming enterprises.

This program is also concentrated to the retired military personnel who have the energy to undertake to farm. This means that a retired recruit who is advanced in age with little energy to make farming cannot afford these loans. Additionally, the programme is only for those with an interest in agriculture. There is less that those with other interest can do.
