How To Eat Healthy And Save Money

By Cornelius Nunev

American paydays have remained flat-line for a while now, even as costs continue to increase. Food costs have been particularly unstable of late, due to global warming, crop shortages and many other factors. There are steps you can take to lower those expenses, however.

Get your meals at home

Cook and eat at home as often as you possibly can. Whatever you make will cost less than it would if you ran out for it, and probably it will be more nutritious. Additionally you have the advantage of knowing exactly what went into your meal.

If you don't think you have time to cook, get a crock pot. Throw some meat and vegetables in it in the morning and come home to a scrumptious stew.

Meat is costly

Instead of making beef the center of every meal, you can just put it into your food or have a vegetarian meal once a week. You will get much healthier and possibly lose weight with the change. Do not go vegan, but try reducing back just a little.

Forget organic

There is no evidence to support that organic food is actually any healthier for you than other food, and it is much more costly. Get some frozen vegetables instead of fresh ones for healthier and less expensive food. You can also save just a little cash.

Watered body significant

It's all your body wants to stay replenished, and it's free. If you don't trust the tap water where you live, consider a water filter rather than bottled water. It is generally just filtered tap water anyway. Soda pop and other sugary drinks are costly and are an easy way to pack on unneeded calories.

Those seeking to save cash on alcohol should only drink it socially and never drink it at home. That is another way to cut back.

Save with no commercially prepared foods

Prepackaged foods are not very healthy typically and are much more costly than just making it yourself, so avoid them whenever you can.

Quickest way with a menu

Every pay day, check out what you have left in the pantry. Then plan out your meals for the next two weeks (or whatever the length of time between your salaries), starting with the items you have on hand. Then make a list of what you still have to prepare those planned meals. Go to the store and close your eyes when going past the come-on items on the end caps. Impulse purchasing is lethal. Stick to the list and only the list, using coupons and being thrifty in your brand selection. Generic is usually just as good as name brands.

Go to a stockroom such as Costco or Sam's Club if you want to reduce warehouse expenses even more.

Brown bag

It is really healthy to make homemade lunches instead of going out to eat, so do that whenever possible.

Think to the future

You can plant a garden and get other people to do it too. This will help you save a lot of cash, particularly if you swap with friends.
